Pin a task right on the plan
Open a plan, drop a pin where the work is, and assign it as a task.
- 1On the Plans tab, click Open on a plan (PDFs and images both work).
- 2Click Add pin, then tap the exact spot on the drawing.
- 3Describe the work, assign a teammate, set a due date, and save - the pin drops and the task is created (the assignee is notified).
- 4Pins are color-coded per assignee and stay anchored to the spot as you zoom in and out. Tap any pin to see its task or jump to the Tasks tab.
- 5Use the list button to see every pin on the file - tap one and the viewer jumps to its exact spot. On a task created from a pin, "View pinned spot on the plan" links back the other way.
- 6On a phone, use the full-screen button for a bigger canvas while dropping or reading pins.
JUMPING TO A PAGE. On a multi-page set the page number between the arrows is a box: type the page you want and press Enter (or tap away) and it goes straight there, rather than stepping forty-odd times. Ask for a page past the end and it takes you to the last one. Opening a pin from the list moves the box too, so it always agrees with the sheet on screen.
TELLING THE OTHER TRADES. When a drawing changes, the megaphone button on that plan's row opens a scope update: say what moved, tick who it lands on, attach the revised sheet if you want to, and send. "Attach a document" is collapsed under the message - open it, tick the drawing, and everyone gets a link to it in the email, no account needed. They get it in the bell, by email and on their phone, following whatever each of them has set. This is the case it exists for - concrete switches from one centre pour to floor-by-floor, the slab height drops half an inch, and the electrician sets his rough-in heights off yesterday's drawing because nobody told him. ANYONE ON THE JOB CAN BE TOLD, INCLUDING SUBS WITH NO LOGIN - an email address is all it takes. Your own people with a SyteNav account get it in the bell, by email and on their phone, following whatever each of them has set. A sub with a contract on the job gets a plain email with the change in it, no account and no login needed, and is marked 'Sub' in the list so you can tell who is who. The only people greyed out are ones with no email on file at all. It is not a chat - there is no thread and no reply. EVERY NOTICE IS RECORDED ON THE JOB'S SHARING TAB (Docs & Legal > Sharing), listed with everything else that has gone out on that job: what was said, who was told, and anybody who could not be reached. So six weeks later 'did we tell the electrician about the slab?' has an answer somewhere you would actually think to look. You can send one from there too, without opening a plan first - the Send scope update button.
Removing a pin keeps its task - nothing gets lost. Very large sheets render at a capped resolution so they stay fast; use the file button to open the raw PDF at native quality.
