Put a job on the map (and fix a wrong pin)
Every job has a point on the map. It is what clock-ins are measured against - here is how to set it and how to correct it.
Each job has one point on the map, worked out from its address. It puts the job on the Projects map, and it is what the Time Clock compares a punch against - so a job with no pin, or a pin in the wrong place, is a job where clock-ins cannot be checked.
MOST JOBS GET ONE AUTOMATICALLY. Pick the address from the suggestions when you create or edit a job and the pin comes with it. The Projects map also fills in anything missing the first time you open it.
- 1Open the job and press the gear in the header for Project Settings.
- 2Under Address you will see whether the job is on the map, and what is wrong if it is not.
- 3Press "Set the pin" (or "Move the pin") to open the map.
- 4Tap where the site entrance is - or press "Use my current location" if you are standing on the site.
- 5Press "Save this location". The pin saves on its own, straight away.
WHEN THE ADDRESS CANNOT BE LOOKED UP. A street name on its own is not enough - there are hundreds of them and a map service will simply pick one, which is worse than no answer at all. Add the town and state (or the ZIP) and it will resolve. SyteNav will not store a match that contradicts the address you typed, so if the job is in NJ and the only match is in MD, it tells you rather than pinning the job two hundred miles away.
WHEN THE PIN IS FOR AN OLD ADDRESS. If a job's address is changed without picking a new suggestion, the old pin stays where it was. SyteNav says so in as many words - it names the address the pin is still on - and stops using it for clock-in checks until it is put right. Pick the address from the suggestions again, or set the pin by hand.
A hand-placed pin is left alone. Use it for a site whose entrance is on a different road from its postal address, a long driveway, or new construction with no street number yet.
Setting a job site needs permission to edit projects. A worker or a sub can see that a job is not mapped, but only the office can fix it.
