Using SyteNav on your phone

SyteNav works in your phone browser today - add it to your home screen and it behaves like an app.

SyteNav is built to be used on site, not only at a desk. Everything works in the browser on a phone or tablet right now - the same account, the same jobs, the same data. There is nothing separate to sign up for.

ADD IT TO YOUR HOME SCREEN. This is the part most people miss. Once you do it, SyteNav opens full-screen with its own icon and no browser bars, which is most of what makes an app feel like an app.

  1. 1iPhone or iPad: open app.sytenav.com in Safari, tap the Share button, then "Add to Home Screen".
  2. 2Android: open app.sytenav.com in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, then "Add to Home screen" or "Install app".
  3. 3Open it from the icon from then on - you stay signed in.

It opens full screen, with no address bar and no browser buttons - the bottom bar and your own header are all you see. If you added it to your home screen before September 2026 and it still shows the address bar, remove the icon and add it again.

GETTING AROUND. On a phone there is a bar along the bottom with the screens you use most - Home, Projects and Approvals, or Home, My Jobs and My Bids if you are a subcontractor. "More" opens the full menu, which is everything the sidebar has on a computer. You only see tabs for screens your role can open.

WHAT WORKS WELL ON A PHONE. Daily logs with photos straight from the camera. The time clock, which records where you clocked in and out. Scanning an invoice, quote or permit by photographing it. Approving a bill. Checking what a job is costing while you are standing on it.

Crew on the Worker role get Field Mode automatically - a stripped-back screen built for gloves and sunlight, with just today's work on it. See "Field Mode for field workers".

TYPING IN THE APP. In the iPhone app, opening the keyboard used to shove the whole page around to reach the field you tapped - the bottom bar could end up floating in the middle of the screen with a band of empty background, and a form could scroll off the top. That was a missing piece in the app itself, not in a screen, and it is fixed. It needs a new build of the iPhone app to reach you, so if you are still seeing it, update.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON POOR SIGNAL. SyteNav needs a connection - it is not an offline app. On one bar it will be slow rather than broken. If you are about to lose signal completely, write the daily log when you are back in range rather than losing what you typed.

NOTIFICATIONS. Email notifications work on a phone today, and you control which ones you get under Settings then Notifications. Notifications that pop up on the phone itself arrive with the app.

GETTING AROUND. The search bar at the top and the tabs at the bottom stay put while you scroll - only the page between them moves. The tabs cover the busiest screens; More opens the full menu, which is everything the sidebar has on a desktop.

DIALOGS. Anything that opens over the page - adding a milestone, recording a payment, picking a sub - fits inside the screen, clears the notch and the home indicator, and scrolls inside itself if it has more to show. The page underneath holds still while it is open. If a table is wider than your phone, swipe it sideways rather than assuming the missing columns are not there.

SWIPE, LIKE ANY APP. Drag in from the left edge of the screen and let go to go back a page - a short flick is enough, and a small chevron follows your finger so you can see it is working. It never fires from the first page you opened, and never while a dialog or a menu is open: close that first. The Project Sections menu, the job status picker and the Team panel pull DOWN to close; the More menu slides back to the left; a task or the job history slides back to the right. Scrolling still scrolls - a menu only comes down when it is already at the top, so pulling a long list back up never closes it by accident.

In the iPhone app the back swipe is the phone's own, with the page sliding under your finger the way it does in every other app. That half needs the next build of the app to reach you; everything else here arrives with the site.

THE APP ITSELF. A native iPhone and iPad app is in the works. When it lands you will sign in with the account you already have and everything will be where you left it. Accounts, plans and billing stay on the website; the app is for the work. We will tell you here and in What's New the day it is downloadable.
