Connect Claude to SyteNav

Add SyteNav in Claude and sign in, so Claude can read your jobs - projects, tasks, schedule, inspections and money - with your permissions.

ASK CLAUDE ABOUT YOUR JOBS. Once connected, you can ask Claude things like "what is overdue on the Henderson job?", "which inspections still need booking?" or "what do we still owe subs on Lot 14?" and it reads the answer out of SyteNav. It can combine that with your other Claude connectors - your email, for instance - in the same conversation.

READING, AND - IF YOU ALLOW IT - ADDING AND EDITING. Claude can see projects, tasks, the schedule, the budget, inspections, bills from subs, invoices to clients, each job's team and subs, and your Directory. If you tick "Also let it add records" it can also: add and change budget lines; add and change subcontracts; add schedule items, change them, and move their dates; add, change and complete tasks; write daily logs; enter bills from subs; request inspections; raise change orders; add Directory contacts; and draft client invoices and payment requests. It never deletes anything, never records a payment, never approves, sends or voids.

WHAT A PERSON STILL CHECKS. A bill Claude enters waits for approval - nothing reaches QuickBooks until somebody approves it. A client invoice it drafts stays a draft and a payment request stays unsent: your client sees nothing until you press Send. A daily log it writes waits for review before it can appear on anything the client sees. Moving a schedule item shows you first which other lines move with it, and Claude must ask whether to email the subs whose dates change - it never decides that on its own. Change orders go in pending. Everything it adds or changes is marked "via Claude" in Job History.

WHAT IT WILL NOT CHANGE, even when it can edit: a line's markup (that is your margin), a sub's payment schedule, or a vendor's name and contact details (those change them on every job). Do those in SyteNav.

ASKING TWICE DOES NOT ENTER TWICE. If Claude repeats the same request on the same day - a retry after a slow answer, say - SyteNav hands back the record it already made instead of a second copy. Before adding a contact or a bill it can also search what is already there.

  1. 1In SyteNav, go to Settings, then Integrations, find the Claude card and press Copy beside the connector address.
  2. 2In Claude (on the web, or the desktop app), open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
  3. 3Name it SyteNav, paste the address, and add it.
  4. 4Press Connect. A SyteNav page opens - sign in if it asks you to.
  5. 5Check it says you will be sent back to Claude. Tick "Also let it add records" only if you want it to add things as well as read, then press Allow.
  6. 6Back in Claude, ask something about your jobs. The first time, Claude asks before using SyteNav - allow it.

Custom connectors depend on your Claude plan. On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an owner of your Claude organization may need to add SyteNav for everyone first; then each person presses Connect and signs in as themselves.

CLAUDE SEES WHAT YOU SEE. The connection uses your own permissions: if you cannot open Billing the client in SyteNav, Claude cannot read client invoices either, and it will say so rather than guess. It only ever reads jobs your company runs.

WHO CAN CONNECT. Anyone who sees every job at their company. Roles that only see the jobs they are assigned to - field supervisors, workers and read-only users - cannot connect Claude yet, and the Allow page says so.

CHANGING YOUR MIND. Once connected, the Claude card folds down to one line with a green Connected - press Manage to open it. Each connection there says "Read only" or "Can add records" - use the ... menu beside it to switch, at any time. DISCONNECTING: every connection is listed there, marked "Signed in from Claude", with when it was last used. Press Revoke and it stops working straight away. Signing in again from Claude replaces the old connection rather than adding another. If nothing has used a connection for 90 days it lapses, and Claude asks you to sign in again.

USING A TOKEN INSTEAD. Claude Code, or a Claude Desktop config file, can use a token rather than signing in: under "Or use a token" on the Claude card, name the connection, press Connect Claude and copy the line for your app. The token is shown only once. Claude Desktop needs Node.js installed for this way; signing in does not.

TREAT A TOKEN LIKE A PASSWORD. Anybody holding it can read what you can read. If a laptop is lost, or you are not sure where a token went, press Revoke beside that connection.
